The St. Louis real estate market has something for everyone.  Real estate St. Louis consistently ranks near in the top in a number of categories. In fact several news articles have declared the area one of the most affordable cities in which to live. This area is suitable for couples, families, young professionals and retirees.

The St. Louis real estate market appears to have recovered from being impacted by the burst of the housing bubble in 2008. The median sales price in this area is 71,950. This figure is down 5.9 from last year. Those who are concerned about this should understand that the STL area is on an upward trend.

Buyers should be aware that one third of the properties in STL can be categorized as distressed. This presents some downward pressure on home values. However, this effect is mitigated by the population growth in St. Louis. More and more people are relocating to this city for work or to retire. This is because it is a stable community with plenty of activities one can enjoy.

Homeowners will find that it is not difficult to find listings for homes in this area. There are homes for sale in several parts of the town. Some areas are more desirable than others.

The best way to find a property in this area is to employ the services of a real estate agent. While many people are now selling their homes via private sale, this is not the norm. Home buyers will have more choices available to them if they approach a few different estate agents.
